Manas – Helpline for India’s First Toll Free National Anti-Drug

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to launch India’s first toll-free national helpline for drug-related issues, called MANAS (Narcotics Prohibition Information Centre) or Narcotics Prohibition Intelligence Centre. It will start on July 18 during the seventh meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD). The helpline, which has a unique phone number (1933) and email address (info.ncbmanas@gov.in), aims to give people a safe and easy way to report drug-related activities.

Purposes and functions of the psyche

MANAS is a comprehensive service that helps combat drug trafficking and related crime. It does this by allowing people to report crimes directly through the website (ncbmanas.gov.in) and other means. The illegal drug trade focuses on crimes such as the sale, purchase, storage, manufacture and cultivation of drugs or substances that make you feel intoxicated. According to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will examine the information given by journalists and take action based on the information.

Integration and impact

The project, directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is part of a larger plan by the central government to adopt a “zero tolerance” stance on drug abuse. India wants to be drug-free by This will be done by improving the institutional framework, making it easier for pharmaceutical organizations to work together and conducting large-scale public awareness programmes. Before the MANAS helpline was created, similar efforts used less available methods of communication, showing a huge improvement in the way people talk to each other and how efficiently things work. The service is an important part of the national fight against drugs.

Strengthen the anti-drug framework
The Manas Helpline was inaugurated with the opening of the new regional office of the NCB in Srinagar and the release of the NCB Annual Report for Both of these programs are an important part of the ongoing effort to improve anti-drug operations across the country. The NCOD system, established in 2016 and reformed in 2019, is an important part of this plan as it helps the national, state and district levels work together. This has been further strengthened by the creation of special task forces, drug clearance operations and other programs aimed at curbing the drug problem in India.

About the Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD)

The Narco-Coordination Center (NCOD) was opened in 2021 in Maharashtra, India. It helps law enforcement agencies work together to fight drug crime. Encord uses a digital platform to exchange information and coordinate systems from various offices, such as the Narcotics Control Bureau, police and customs. Through real-time data and coordinated law enforcement efforts, the Center hopes to prevent further increases in drug use and trafficking. This project shows that the Government of India is taking measures to prevent the drug problem from worsening. The “War on Drugs” mandate from the government tells NCORD how to conduct business.
