Scheme of Examination

The Examination will be conducted according to the following:

Part-I (Computer Based Examination & Written Examination)

• General Awareness: The objective of the question will be to test the candidates’ general awareness of the environment around them and its application in society. The questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and everyday issues and observations and the expertise in their scientific aspect that can be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions related to India and its neighboring countries, especially those related to history, culture, geography, economics, science, general politics and scientific research.
• English Language and Comprehension: Questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding and knowledge of English language, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words etc. There will be questions also. On understanding a passage, questions will be at nomination level.
• Phase-II (100 Questions)
• Questions: 100 Marks each subjects
• Maximum Marks: 200 Marks
• Time Duration: 2.40 minutes eash subject

Part-II Evaluation of Record of Service

• Noting, Drafting & Office Procedure(Conventional type): The Note Taking, Writing and Office Procedures paper will be designed to test candidates’ knowledge of office procedures in the Secretariat and attached offices and their ability to write and understand notes and drafts in general. Candidates are required to study the Office Procedures Manual/Office Procedures Manual issued by the Ministry of Railways, Rules of Procedure and Business Conduct in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Order Book issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Use of Hindi for official purposes of the Union and reservation policy for SC/ST in services and orders issued by the Government from time to time in this regard.
• Questions: 100 Marks each subjects
• Maximum Marks: 100 Marks
• Time Duration: 2.40 minutes
