The NITI Aayog has launched a Hackathon for Zero Emission Trucks

NITI Gearshift Challenge is organized by NITI Aayog as well as many renowned schools and groups. The project is part of the larger e-Fast India programme, which aims to introduce more zero emission trucks (ZETs) in India.

Purpose of Policy Gearshift Challenge

The challenge aims to encourage people to find new ways of running a business that will facilitate the adoption of electric cars in India. It involves many different types of people, including students, academics and business workers, to deal with problems in the economy, the environment and some industries.

The structure of the Hackathon

The Gearshift Challenge consists of two different rounds:

Round 1: Participants present raw business plans that address specific technical, operational, or financial issues that complicate Jet’s widespread use. These plans are backed by research.

Round 2: Shortlisted teams refine their proposals into a full business model, which includes a detailed plan and further study of how to implement the model. Industry experts offer advice on these ideas to make them more realistic and likely to make an impact.

Importance of transition to electric trucks

It is vital for India’s supply chain that the freight sector works. This sector uses a lot of diesel fuel and is a major contributor to CO2 emissions. The move to electric trucks in this industry is vital to protecting the earth, improving the air, and ensuring enough energy for everyone. The emphasis on electric cars is in line with sustainability goals around the world.

Expected results

The Nitty Gearshift Challenge is looking for real, creative ways to accelerate jet adoption. It aims to cut pollution and make India a star in environmentally friendly freight transport. The successful strategy of the hackathon is expected to encourage policy formation and similar projects across the globe, reflecting India’s dedication to protecting the environment and improving the economy.
