About the Henley Passport Index
The Henley Passport Index rates passports according to the number of countries that do not already require a visa. It has been in operation since 2006 and its data comes from IATA. Japan and Singapore top the list with 193 countries having access. The index is updated quarterly. Afghans can travel to only 27 countries without a visa, which is far too few. Discussions between governments about global mobility and freedom of travel are influenced by this index. It also represents international agreements and diplomatic relations.
