1. Cabinet Approves Anti-Paper Leak Bill Description
Union Cabinet on July 24, 2026 approved the Anti-Paper Leak Bill to ensure the integrity and transparency of public examinations across the country. The law attempts to prevent leak of question papers, cheating and to make recruitment and entrance exams fair. It also imposes tougher penalties on individuals and institutions involved in examination malpractice including paper leaks and the use of unfair means. 2. Supreme Court says National Highways Act needs amendment
The Supreme Court of India has said that it is prima facie not proper for government bureaucrats to act as adjudicating authorities in matters of compensation of land under the National Highways Act. The Court stressed the necessity of independent and impartial process for adjudication of such disputes so that justice may be done to the aggrieved land owners. Suggestions were that Parliament should consider amending the Act to have issues over compensation dealt with by judicial or quasi judicial bodies rather than administrative officials.
