- Telecommunications Act broadcasting rules
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has on 12 June 2026 issued draft guidelines for public feedback to amend the way television, radio and other broadcasting services are governed in India.
The new guidelines are part of a larger endeavour under the Telecommunications Act, 2023 to modernise the country’s broadcasting laws and integrate all services under one single regulatory framework.
The objective is to make licensing simpler, make compliance more transparent, and cut down on overlap in existing laws. The government says the consolidation should increase transparency, remove red tape and make it easier for firms to operate in the media and communications sector.
If implemented, the new paradigm will impact conventional broadcasters including TV and radio networks and newer digital media. While the government believes this might drive investment, innovation and higher quality of services, several stakeholders are concerned it could also lead to tighter regulation of content, licensing and freedom of expression. The consultation procedure will then be finished and final rules will be issued.

Ace pistol shooter and instructor Jaspal Rana of India is no more. He was 49. The death of the ace shooter is a huge loss for the athletic world of the country.

Her work has made a great contribution towards the recognition of Indian folk customs at national and international level. Her death is a significant loss to India’s rich cultural heritage.

A trilateral MoU has been signed by the Government of India, Assam and Nagaland for cooperation exploration and production of oil and natural gas in the bordering region.
The agreement is meant to better utilise hydrocarbon resources and to solve administrative and territorial problems. It is expected to generate jobs and promote regional economic development.
The project is important for India’s energy security and is in tune with the Act East Policy. It might turn the Northeast into a significant center of energy.
